JOB DESCRIPTION:

Wimba, Inc., the leader in web-based collaboration software designed for online education, language learning and live interactive communications, is currently seeking an exceptional Linux Network Administrator with expertise in Networking and Security management to join our Systems Operation team.  This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to join a fast-growing company with a track record of success.

This position will provide server, infrastructure, and applications support as an integral part of our global System Operations team.  This position will assume primary responsibility for data center network infrastructure and security management, and contribute to the ongoing development and documentation of deployment automation tools for our software products.

• Routine System Admin functions to deploy and maintain customer facing and infrastructure servers, with a continuing focus on standardization of administration for server farms at data centers.
• Design, document, manage, and optimize network infrastructure and IPAM.
• Design and develop deployment automation tools for software deployments and upgrades.
• Perform regular data center security audits and remediation of deficiencies.
• Configure and manage performance monitoring tools and notification services.
• Design, configure and tune high availability Linux systems.
• Undertake various housekeeping and reporting functions for the areas of responsibility, including product deployments, upgrades & maintenance.
• Ability to take part in scheduled on-call rotations for 24-7 response to site outages and emergencies.
• Compose and edit documentation of process, procedures, and reference information.
• Assist in implementing, executing, maintaining, and documenting proper back-up and recovery procedures.
• Provide feedback to Product Engineering team on product enhancements for optimized deployment.
• Maintain the patch levels of all OS and application patches on all systems.
• Support third party applications on products used in support of corporate mission critical systems.
• Mentor and guide junior team members.

Technical Skills:

• 4+ years system admin experience
• BA/BS degree or relevant industry experience required
• Proven experience deploying and managing complex, high availability data center networks including Spanning Tree, VLAN, VPN/IPSec, IPAM, DNS, and LACP trunk management.
• Strong scripting/programming skills with experience in Perl, Python, Bash or other scripting languages.
• Thorough knowledge of RHEL/CentOS
• Strong Linux security skills
• PostgreSQL, mysql database administration
• Performance monitoring and tuning, hardware sizing
