I am looking for an experienced web developer with a diverse skillset in web technologies and experience in getting projects finished to work on client customization projects using the Caribou CMS subscription membership website platform. This part-time (20-25 hours per week) web developer job will include performing various PHP code modifications, module creation and programming as well as Smarty template integrations. Most work will be template-related so knowledge of the Smarty Template Engine is critical.
This position will be the first non-contract hiring at Caribou due to the high growth in the last few months that Caribou has experienced. It's outgrown the solo-freelancer mentality and a team must be assembled!
Projects will be managed by a highly experienced web developer and the architect of the Caribou CMS platform so you don't need to worry about being left stranded knowledge-wise or dealing directly with clients.
Your first task will be learning the system. You will learn as you go, starting with smaller jobs to get familiar with the architecture. We have a small client-base and work tightly with clients to get their projects done right. The vast majority of the business is customizations.
Requirements:
- 3+ years experience with PHP5 (Object-Oriented) and MySQL
- Solid knowledge of the Smarty Template Engine (plugins, templates, etc.)
- At least a working knowledge of JavaScript and comfortability with its popular frameworks: jQuery, Scriptaculous, MooTools
- Be available 5+ days a week and contactable by email, IM, and phone
- Experience in various client web projects (or your own projects, but you have to show that you know how to take a project from start-to-finish)
- XHTML and CSS expert (CSS positioning and valid cross-browser XHTML is a must)

Compensation
Compensation can be an hourly rate or a per-project rate depending on the project and your preference. It's just a part-time job for now as the business transitions from a solo operation to operating with employees. Expected earnings are $40K+ per year, part-time.
