Summary
Are you a motivating leader who can enthusiastically communicate a vision and get your development team excited about what they’re building? Dictionary.com is looking for a talented technology leader to manage a growing team of engineers building innovative new products for the #1 Dictionary resource on the web.
Responsibilities
- Managing people and projects in a fast-paced environment including issue management and removal of obstacles.
- Translating business needs into technical requirements and potential issues.
- Manage the technology budgets and effectively plan financial requirements for future growth.
- Manage, drive and grow a team of local, remote and contract employees.
- A team worker, “whatever it takes” attitude.
- Strong background in performance testing, analysis & tuning.
- Ability to connect with & lead Sr. developers with expert skill set in areas where you are not an expert.
- Ability to investigate and suggest new tools to improve efficiency and assist with development.
- Able to lead a team to quickly prototype ideas if necessary.
Required Experience and Technical Skills
- Proven management skills of people and projects in a fast-paced environment including issue management and removal of obstacles.
- Experience translating business needs into technical requirements and potential issues.
- Ability to make prioritization and implementation decisions in a high pressure environment that align to business and architecture goals.
- Manage the technology budgets and effectively plan financial requirements for future growth.
- Ability to manage, drive and grow a team of local, remote and contract employees.
- Sound software design skills.
- Strong background of Internet technologies, WWW and networking (protocols).
- Experience with caching technologies and session management (cookies, server based sessions, etc.)
- Experience working with real world web 2.0 technologies – Ajax, JSON, JavaScript, HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS)
- Solid understand of SEO best practices and process.

- 5 yrs+ industry experience
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.

- Experience developing for mobile products like the iPhone and BlackBerry.
- Experience with JIRA, SVN & Wiki tools.
- Experience with Agile development.
