Backend Developer

BACKEND DEVELOPER BigTent is looking for a backend developer with strong operations experience to join our team. Quick Introduction BigTent is where trusted communities connect online. About this job: Key activities of this position: • Working with other developers, design and implement the back-end software • Ensure successful scaling of the BigTent platform to meet our rapidly growing user-base • Address performance issues and trouble shoot other problems as appropriate • Some DBA-type work, e.g., responsible for query and schema optimizations • Responsible for operations vendor relationships, spend, and hardware provisioning What we’re looking for: • Familiarity with LAMP stack and strong proficiency in PHP and MySQL • Deep experience writing and optimizing queries against large datasets • Experience supporting large, interesting, or complex web applications • Experience with high-volume email delivery • UNIX SysAdmin experience and hardware knowledge • Excited about the groups we serve and commited to making their lives better with each line of code you ship • BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field preferred.
